Financial Management Basics I and Financial Management II 

This course provides an overview of basic financial management concepts that are critical for successfully running a small business, social enterprise or non-profit. Participants are provided with information about key concepts including bookkeeping, financial reporting, accounting, taxes, data management, budgeting, cash flow management and business strategy.

Digital Storytelling: Communications 

The digital world is changing how organizations communicate with their audiences. Demand for content is relentless and multiple methods of delivering that content can be bewildering. This seminar will help your organization identify the right message for the right channel, with a focus on helping you tell your compelling stories and develop a communications plan. We’ll use time-tested, traditional processes, and then show you how to use today’s technology to reach your audience.

OCTOBER 27 & 28

Non Profits and How They Work; Board Recruitment and Retention; Effective Meetings

Understanding the key role that non-profits play in healthy communities, clarifying expectations for board members, and meeting the challenge of providing good leadership. Learn how to build board capacity through an effective board and productive meetings. This course provides information on how to find the right people for the job and ensure the board expectations, roles and responsibilities are clear. Participants will also gain skills on how to run an effective board meeting by learning about the role of the chair, creating an agenda, working with challenging participants, reporting, record keeping and parliamentary procedure.
